  • Our river, lakes and other waterways are an essential part of our region
  • North Idaho recorded the highest number of “operating under the influence” charges in Idaho's waterways. With the summer of 2022 marking the highest year on record.
  • Kootenai County is home to more than 24,000 registered boaters, the largest number in state.
  • The Kootenai County Marine department host 80 hours of certified training. Once complete, marine deputies arrest dozens of intoxicated boaters and conduct thousands of boater safety inspections each year.
  • The Dive Team consists of 13 divers who conduct searches year round in all conditions, responding to an average of two dozen calls per year.

Filling The Gap

At Mahogany Boater’s Education Association, we spearhead a multifaceted approach to support marine safety. Our goal is to educate those that live in and around our lakes, rivers and waterways as well as those visiting. Through relationship with the Kootenai County Sheriff Office, we can leverage the resources to fill educational gaps and enhance safety measures- ensuring we can recreate on our waters for years ahead.
